I was there in 2023 - unforgettable! But the island's quickly reaching its carrying capacity of visitors (or, at least the campsites are) - they badly need a development plan.
I'd argue they're already at carrying capacity! We were lucky enough that our guides knew the schedules of most other tour groups and so took us where they weren't, but everytime we'd pass by one of those giant campsites with mounds of trash, it was such a sorry sight.

Yeah we managed to be mostly alone at two sites but not the others - and it was probably worse when you were there a year later....
